Expect to build confidence and expertise
I’m proud of the experience I’ve gained and how I can now pass it on to others.
I recently had my three-year anniversary at Siegfried, here in Minden. It feels like both a long and short time all at once. My path to Siegfried wasn’t straightforward. Initially, I had planned to join the military, but when my father fell seriously ill, I had to make a choice. Family comes first, so I stayed close to help and, at the same time, decided to join Siegfried. It felt right, especially since I’ve always known about the company, having grown up near the plant.
At Siegfried, I work in the IPC (In-Process Control) department. My job is to monitor and control the quality of every product as it goes through various stages of production. It’s a job that requires attention to detail, especially because we have to meet strict deadlines and standards. We start the day with a handover where my team and I share important information and set the priorities for the shift. I work in shifts, including night and weekend work, but that’s part of the rhythm of the job.
We’re a small team, with four people on my shift, but we also work with the larger group that handles the regular 8-to-3 shift. There are times when each of us works on our own, but we always come together when someone needs help. It’s a good balance of independence and teamwork.
When I first started here, I was very shy. I wasn’t sure of myself or my abilities, and everything felt new and overwhelming. But over time, I’ve grown more confident. Now, I’m the one who shares my expertise with the younger colleagues. It’s been great to see how much I’ve learned in these three years. I’m proud of the experience I’ve gained and how I can now pass it on to others.
I won’t lie – the work is tough. Seven-day weeks can take a toll, but I genuinely enjoy what I do. What makes it better are my colleagues. We have fun, even on the hardest days, and that makes the job feel lighter. The team spirit here is something I really value. Even though the workload is demanding, we manage to create a good atmosphere that keeps everything moving smoothly.
For now, I’m happy in my role, but I’m always open to new opportunities. I’m currently discussing some training with my supervisor, including courses on chromatography and maintaining our specialized equipment. There’s also a personal project I’m working on – I’m a volunteer firefighter, and I’m excited about the training for that as well.
While I don’t have a specific plan for my next move, I’m hopeful for what the future holds. If there’s a chance to take on more responsibilities or try something new, I’m ready. For now, I’m focused on continuing to learn and doing my best every day at Siegfried.
